How to Request a Correction

A correction request to American Pivot needs four pieces of information so the disputed sentence can be found and checked against a source.

  1. The full web address of the profile, such as a page linked from the Senate or House directory.
  2. The exact sentence you believe is wrong, copied word for word.
  3. The wording you propose instead.
  4. A public source with its date, as a link or a full title, that supports your version.

Send the email to support@layer3labs.io with the subject "American Pivot correction". If the link does not open your email program, copy the address from the Layer3Labs support page.

If several sentences on one profile are wrong, list each sentence separately with its own source.

What Counts as a Factual Error

A factual error in an American Pivot profile is a statement that a dated public record or a public candidate statement contradicts. Disagreeing with a candidate's views does not by itself make a profile sentence wrong.

American Pivot's editorial standards set rules that limit what a correction can change:

  • Issue positions are not inferred from party membership. A request to add a position needs a dated public statement or record from the candidate.
  • Allegations, responses, official findings and outcomes are reported separately. A request to describe an allegation as a finding needs a source showing the official finding.
  • An entry marked unknown stays unknown until a source fills it. Unknown does not mean the candidate opposes an issue or has no controversy.
  • American Pivot does not publish endorsements or voter persuasion scores, so requests to add them fall outside the profiles.

Sources That Support a Correction

A correction request should rest on a dated public record, an official election return or a public statement made by the candidate. Name the source and its date in the email.

Results reported on election night are unofficial even when 100 percent of precincts are reporting, according to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC). The EAC also states that a media projection does not certify an election.

State and local election officials set certification dates. A request to change a race result or its status should cite the result published by the state or local election office.

The 2026 general election date was November 3, 2026, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) calendar. The FEC regulates federal campaign finance. It does not administer state elections, so a dispute about voting procedure should cite the state's election office.

On the federal, Senate and House hub pages, the reporting table separates media-called results from detailed published profiles. Say in your request which of the two your correction concerns.

What Happens After You Send a Request

Correction requests for American Pivot are handled through publisher support at support@layer3labs.io. Each request is checked against the source it cites.

Not every request leads to a change in a profile. A request without a dated public source gives nothing to check the disputed sentence against.

No turnaround time is promised for a reply or for an edit to a profile.

What to Leave Out of Your Email

Do not send sensitive personal information in a correction request, such as identification numbers, financial account details or private medical records. Link to the public version of a document instead of attaching a private copy.

American Pivot has no contact form, account system, newsletter signup or payment form. Requests arrive by email or through the Layer3Labs support page. The privacy page covers how the site handles data, and the contact page covers general questions.

To start, copy the disputed sentence and the profile's web address into an email to support@layer3labs.io with the subject "American Pivot correction".

Questions & Answers

Does American Pivot have a correction form?

No. Send corrections by email to support@layer3labs.io with the subject "American Pivot correction", or use the Layer3Labs support page.

How long does a correction take?

No turnaround time is promised. Each request is checked against the public source it cites before any change is made.

Will every correction request change the profile?

No. A profile changes only when a dated public source supports the proposed wording. Disagreement with a candidate's views is a matter of opinion and does not count as a factual error.

Can I report an election result that changed after election night?

Yes. Include the result published by the state or local election office and its date. The EAC states that election-night results are unofficial even at 100 percent of precincts reporting.
